I don’t pay for Google Photos, iCloud Photos, or Dropbox because I have something better instead

I started hosting Immich last year on my home server. I wrote about it at the time, and I was almost instantly sure that I wouldn't regret this decision. For me, there were some obvious immediate gains: I stopped paying a subscription just to store and access my memories, and it was also an inexpensive undertaking, since an old computer that I had abandoned served as my server.
